A well-established short-term insurance brokerage is seeking an experienced Personal & Commercial Underwriter to join its growing team. This role is ideal for an underwriting professional with experience across both personal and commercial lines who enjoys building client relationships, assessing risk, and delivering exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and underwrite personal and commercial insurance risks.
- Prepare, negotiate, and issue policies, endorsements, and renewals.
- Manage and maintain a portfolio of clients, brokers, and stakeholders.
- Provide expert advice on insurance products and coverage solutions.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and underwriting standards.
- Support claims-related underwriting matters when required.
- Maintain accurate policy and underwriting documentation.
- Stay up to date with market trends, emerging risks, and industry developments.
- Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve client queries efficiently.
Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12).
- 2-5 years’ underwriting experience within a short-term insurance brokerage environment.
- Exposure to both personal and commercial lines would be advantageous.
- Relevant insurance qualifications such as NQF Level 4 and RE5.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, communication, and negotiation skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Client-focused with a proactive and collaborative approach.

Salary depends on experience and qualifications (R20 000 – R35 000 CTC)
