The IT Systems Engineering Manager oversees a dynamic team responsible for Software Deployment, Server Infrastructure, And VMware Virtualized Environments.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate junior team leads, manage capacity planning, and provide exceptional service to clients across various geographies as part of the more comprehensive Technology Operational department.
The Systems Engineering Manager’s role is to manage and coordinate Systems Engineers in collaboration with other business areas, ensuring the daily provision of high-quality service and maintaining infrastructure uptime across the organization. This role supports the implementation of changes necessary for successful project delivery.
Outputs
- Provide a Technical Subject Matter expert role.
- Own and grow Systems Engineering & Realisation capabilities for the company.
- Set the vision and develop strategies for applications & system engineering for the organization.
- Ensure on time/in full delivery – manage all project activities under their responsibility to deliver to quality, time and budget, ensuring all relevant construction standards and quality standards are met.
- Works towards improving or creating new accepted guidelines according to best practice.
- Refers issues not covered by procedures or prior experience to the IT Head of Operations.
- Align and span of Global control to all geographies
- Participating, providing and assisting in the design, UAT and implementation of solutions.
- Hardware and software scoping and planning for client requirements.
- Capacity planning of resources for physical and virtual environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams for project & service delivery.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients in various geographies.
- Ensure client SLAs, deliverables and projects are met timeously.
- Provide feedback and evidence for audits and advise on solutions for improvement.
- Determine efficient communication procedures for service delivery teams to relay back to clients for impact of systems.
Requirements
- Tertiary IT related Degree or Diploma.
- Experience in capacity planning and managing large-scale IT projects.
- 8+ Years’ experience in Information Technology
- Experience with Managing a technical team.
- Experience with system engineering design strategies and techniques
- Experience with full product development life cycle
- Understanding of server infrastructure, software deployment, and VMware virtualized environments.
- Relevant certifications E.g. VMware Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified
- ITIL Concepts and processes
- In depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Azure, Linux, Veeam, Hybrid Cloud deployments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
