SQL Database Administrator
Responsibilities
- Support existing customer databases and infrastructure.
- Maintain databases for performance & server capacity (MS SQL2008/Win2008R2)
- Familiar with large databases, managing indexing, database engine technology,
- backup and archive data regularly,
- import/export data as and when required,
- monitor and modify existing applications/services that import/export data,
- Deploy additional databases and related items (e.g. web sites, network configuration) when required,
- Run scripts and draw customer reports as and when required,
- Maintain high uptime on company servers/services and correct any issues that may arise,
- Configure/monitor database replication and Log shipping,
- Use SQL Performance Monitor for analysis.
- Review current architecture and assist with developing and migrating to a high-availability scalable database solution for Primary and Disaster Recovery sites.
Requirements
- B.Sc / Honours Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineer
- 3 + years Database Administration
- Be familiar with development of small applications in Visual Studio C/Python/Java.
- Be able to develop and maintain Python/Java applications. Will be required to analyse data exported from SQL into CSV/Excel where SQL is unable to easily query the data set.
- Be fully familiar with Excel. (manipulating reports in Excel in Developer mode.)
- Very good problem solver.
- Assist Development team and Infrastructure team with:
- Product database development,
- Testing.
