Reservations Consultant
Our client based in Johannesburg is seeking to appoint a Reservations Clerk on a permanent basis.
Purpose of the role:
To provide our clients with excellent service and in so doing generate sales for the business. Managing the sales process from receipt of the enquiry, throught to consulting, making the booking and invoicing the client.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Client Services:
Complete overall management of the entire process pertaining to the client’s enquiry from beginning to end.
Be a bush lodge expert by liaising with clients and offering suitable lodge/hotel options and/or alternative options based on their needs and interests.
Effectively managing client expectations pertaining to their experience.
Looking after all aspects of the booking process, ensuring the client has an excellent overall experience.
Maintain a constant level of efficient communication with your clients throughout the entire booking process.
Internal Processes:
Follow reservations processes as required, thus ensuring understanding and implementation of internal reservations operating procedures. Attention to details when sending quotes to clients as well as following internal reservations procedural requirements.
Manage and respond to Tour Financial Summary Reports as and when requested.
Attend product training on all lodges and hotels as requested.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Client service-focused
Good geographic knowledge of Southern Africa .
Good knowledge of bush lodges & Game Reserves throughout Southern Africa.
Good people skills, and the ability to comfortably discuss options with clients.
Someone who is target driven, and willing to go the extra mile for clients.
Good understanding of travel terminology – room types and categories of hotel rooms and rates.
Good organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple bookings at the same time.
Good attention to detail and accuracy.
Commitment to handle administrative responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
Team player with a positive attitude and the willingness to adapt to change, if and when required.
Good computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Office Applications – Outlook, Office, Excel & Word.
Ability to grasp new computer programs quickly and effectively.
Very good interpersonal interactions skills, predominantly focussing on a high level of written and verbal communication skills.
A good understanding of contracted rates and applying special discounted rates.
Ability to work under pressure with high work volumes and quick turnaround.
Education and experience:
Matric
Travel and Tourism Qualification preferable
Computer proficiency, including MS 360 – Outlook, Excel, Word, Internet navigation, Teams & Tour Plan.
At least six years experience in the travel industry, preferably in the tour operator environment
Consultant experience is essential
