Psychiatrist – Role Summary

We are seeking a qualified and HPCSA-registered Psychiatrist to provide specialist psychiatric care within a private psychiatric hospital and clinic in Durban. The successful candidate will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a range of mental health conditions, develop and manage individualised treatment plans, prescribe medication, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Key Requirements

• MBChB with MMed (Psychiatry) or FC Psych (SA).  Newly Qualified Psychiatrists welcome.

• Registered as a Specialist Psychiatrist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).

• Experience in a psychiatric hospital or mental healthcare setting.

• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills.

• Sound knowledge of South African mental health legislation and ethical practice.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
