Production Supervisor


JOB SUMMARY
 
Supervises and coordinates production activities/functions which include analyzing scheduling needs, managing the production schedule, maximizing productivity and ensuring efficiency, high quality, safety and cost effectiveness.  Fosters an environment of teamwork and continuous improvement.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Assesses, plans and schedules production to ensure product availability and shipping requirements are met.
 
  • Oversees and coordinates daily activities and the completion of scheduled work to maximize productivity, minimize cost and increase quality. Responsible for achievement of department efficiency goals and standards, tracks downtime, and develops/implements plans accordingly. Makes recommendations for material, workflow and facilities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
 
  • Troubleshoots production problems and ensures machinery, equipment and facilities are functioning and operating properly for efficient production. Reports process, facility or equipment problems, and collaborates with management and maintenance to ensure safety and minimize downtime.
 
  • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data.
 
  • In collaboration with production, operations, human resources and engineering staff/management, ensures compliance with various state and federal regulations.
 
  • Responsible for ensuring safety, monitoring security and ensuring good housekeeping/cleanliness.
 
  • All other duties as assigned.
 
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Supervises the daily activities for a team, ensures productivity, sets priorities and manages work schedules. Provides input on resource planning and policy development. Trains/coaches team members on performance, completes performance evaluations and recommends pay actions. Participates in and provides input into hiring and termination decisions.
 
  • May provides input into the department budget and control expenses.
 
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
 
 
Education:   High school diploma required.
 
Experience:  Typically requires 5 or more years of experience in consumer goods production or assembly leading and coordinating the work of production staff.
CMT experience essesntial.
 
Salary up to R30 000k CTC.
