Interim Payroll Manager (Maternity Cover)
Location: Hillcrest, Durban  
 
Overview
We are seeking a meticulous and highly experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the end-to-end payroll function for our Hillcrest-based client. This is a critical contract role covering a maternity leave.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring 100% accuracy in disbursements, statutory compliance, and reporting during the incumbent’s absence.
 
Key Responsibilities
    • Execute monthly payroll processing for +/- 600 staff categories using Sage Business Cloud Payroll Professional.
    • Compliance & Statutory Returns: Accurate preparation and timely submission of EMP201s, UI19s, and COIDA requirements.
    • Oversight of annual, sick, and family responsibility leave balances.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries, resolving issues with a high degree of professionalism.
    • Reporting: Generate month-end reports, including variance analysis and general ledger integrations for the finance department.
 
Requirements
    • Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Sage Business Cloud Payroll Professional is non-negotiable. You must be able to hit the ground running without technical system training.
    • Minimum 5+ years in a Payroll Management or Senior Administrator role.
    • Deep understanding of BCEA, SARS PAYE requirements, and current South African labour legislation.
    • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to handle high-pressure deadlines, and the discretion required to manage sensitive executive remuneration data. 
    • Ideally based in or near Hillcrest/Upper Highway to ensure reliable commuting during the training and contract period.
