Multimodal Imports Controller

A well-established logistics and freight forwarding provider is seeking an experienced Multimodal Imports Controller to join their team in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
This is a permanent, full-time, in-office position focused on providing tailored shipping solutions across multiple transport modes.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Coordination: Manage multimodal import shipments across sea, air, and road from origin to final delivery.
- Documentation & Tracking: Handle all import documentation and proactively track shipments.
- Liaison: Act as the central point of contact for shipping lines, clearing agents, transporters, clients, and internal teams.
- Customs & Compliance: Manage customs clearance processes and ensure strict compliance with SARS regulations.
- Operations: Perform accurate data capture, file management, and invoicing support.
- Problem Solving: Proactively resolve shipment delays, customs queries, and operational hurdles.
- Customer Service: Maintain high levels of communication and service throughout the import process.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: Proven track record as an Imports Controller within a freight forwarding environment.
- Customs Knowledge: Essential experience in customs clearance and a strong understanding of South African import regulations.
- Systems: Experience with the EasyClear system is highly advantageous.
- Soft Skills: Excellent organizational, communication, and independent problem-solving skills.
- Software: Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Logistics: A valid driver’s license and own reliable vehicle are required.
