Mid-Level Litigation Attorney


Our client is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Junior to Mid-Level Litigation Attorney with 3–5 years’ experience to join our litigation practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a broad range of litigation matters, providing strategic legal advice, and representing clients in various courts and dispute resolution forums.
 
This role is suited to an attorney who is confident in handling matters independently, has strong drafting and advocacy skills, and can manage litigation matters from inception to finalisation.
 
The successful candidate will work closely with clients, counsel, and other stakeholders while maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
 
Key Responsibilities:
    • Manage litigation matters from inception through to finalisation.
    • Draft pleadings, notices, affidavits, heads of argument, opinions, and other legal documents.
    • Conduct legal research and prepare case strategies.
    • Attend court appearances, consultations, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
    • Liaise with clients, counsel, advocates, sheriffs, correspondents, and other relevant parties.
    • Prepare and brief counsel where necessary.
    • Handle High Court, Magistrates’ Court, and other litigation-related proceedings.
    • Advise clients on litigation risks, dispute resolution strategies, and legal processes.
    • Manage court deadlines, filing requirements, and procedural compliance.
    • Analyse evidence, contracts, and legal documentation relevant to disputes.
    • Assist with debt recovery, commercial disputes, contractual claims, and other litigation matters where applicable.
    • Maintain accurate records, billing, and file management in accordance with firm procedures.
    • Contribute to client relationship management and business development initiatives.
 
Minimum Requirements:
    • LLB degree.
    • Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
    • 3–5 years’ experience in litigation.
    • Strong knowledge of civil procedure and court processes.
    • Experience appearing in the Magistrates’ Court and/or High Court.
    • Excellent drafting, analytical, and advocacy skills.
    • Ability to manage matters independently and work under pressure.
    • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal practice management systems.
    • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel when required
 
Location: KZN
 
Salary: Competitive Package + benefits
 
Working hours: 08h00 – 16h30 (Mon – Fri)
