Job Title: Legal Bookkeeper

Purpose of the job:
Our client is seeking a Legal Bookkeeper to join their team. The Legal Bookkeeper will support the finance team by maintaining accurate financial records, managing VAT returns, E-filing, SARS submissions, and ensuring compliance with legal and financial regulations. This role also involves handling Trust and Estate bookkeeping to ensure seamless financial operations within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including the preparation and processing of invoices, receipts, and payments
- Reconcile bank statements and financial transactions
- Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Handle VAT returns and E-filing
- Perform SARS submissions and tax returns
- Manage bookkeeping for Trust and Estate accounts
- Support the senior finance team with ad-hoc bookkeeping tasks
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
- Liaise with internal teams and external clients regarding financial transactions
Requirements:
- Diploma or equivalent qualification in Bookkeeping or Accounting
- 1-2 years of experience in a bookkeeping role
- Experience with Pastel accounting software
- Knowledge of Trust and Estates bookkeeping
- Experience in VAT returns, E-filing, SARS submissions, and tax returns
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills
