Lab Supervisor
Our client based in Westville, Durban is seeking an experienced Lab Supervisor
The Laboratory Supervisor will report to theLaboratories Manager and will be
responsible to organise and control the laboratory and sample room staff daily, to facilitate the
efficient processing of samples according to the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 quality and
environmental management systems.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
– Mathematics and Science at Matric level.
– A tertiary qualification in Chemistry or related field
Minimum Experience:
– 5 years working in a laboratory supervisory role.

Duties:
– Ensure laboratory practices and procedures as detailed in the quality and environmental
management systems are adhered to.
– Monitor the status of samples through the laboratory and organise the workload such that
FIFO principle is generally applied.
– Support management in the discipline and recruitment of laboratory staff.
– Ensure supervision, training and development, and motivation of laboratory staff.
– Ensure the continuous process of performance appraisals is performed.
– Maintain optimal levels of laboratory consumables at all times.
– Monitor and adhere to all aspects of the IMS.
– Ensure the vetting of sample results is carried out and result discrepancies are reported.
– Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safety within the laboratory at all times.
Additional requirements:
– Computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel/Word)
– Strong interpersonal abilities
– Ability to work overtime, weekends, public holidays as and when required.
Salary: R35K – R40K CTC PM D.O.E
