The L1 Technician supports workshop operations, remote support delivery, and onsite assistance. The role exists to scale support delivery, improve workshop throughput, standardise deployments, strengthen documentation discipline, and increase overall project execution capacity — while reducing unnecessary load on senior engineers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Workshop Operations & Device Preparation
• Perform laptop/desktop reloads, device imaging, and Microsoft 365 setup
• Carry out hardware upgrades, device QA checks, and backup/migration support
• Maintain workshop organisation and reduce backlog
L1 Support & Ticket Handling
• Provide remote troubleshooting and maintain proactive ticket updates and user communication
• Prepare escalations, and support basic networking and printer/peripheral issues
Documentation & System Discipline
• Keep IT Glue, asset records, ticket notes, and process documentation accurate and current
Project & Onsite Support
• Assist senior engineers with device deployments, cable runs, rack work, and basic switch/AP deployment
• Support user setup and general project preparation
Requirements
• Demonstrated ability to independently perform: Windows reloads, Microsoft 365 setup, basic troubleshooting, device preparation, hardware upgrades, printer support, basic networking, and remote support
• Working knowledge of ticketing and documentation systems (e.g. ConnectWise, IT Glue), or ability to learn quickly
• Understanding of when to escalate — server issues, firewall changes, advanced networking, infrastructure outages, security incidents, and advanced cloud issues fall outside independent scope
• Sound written communication for ticket notes and client-facing updates
Personal Attributes
• Accountability & Ownership — takes responsibility for outcomes, communicates delays early, follows through and follows escalation process
• No Ego / No Drama — works professionally under pressure, accepts feedback, and maintains professionalism with clients and team
• Continuous Improvement — proactively learns new systems, builds certifications, and seeks technical growth
