IT Manager – Durban
 
The IT Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organisation’s technology environment operates reliably, securely and cost‑effectively across all regions.
 
The role translates executive strategy into practical IT execution, overseeing governance, cybersecurity compliance and the alignment of all systems and services with business objectives.
 
Key responsibilities
    • Lead and manage IT teams and equipment countrywide across IT Operations (Facilities), Systems Development and Business Support.
    • Drive IT strategic planning and alignment with executive strategy, industry best practice, and group security, modernisation and audit requirements.
    • Oversee infrastructure planning, implementation and maintenance to ensure stability, security, availability and performance, including high‑level IT asset management.
    • Provide team leadership and development, including hiring, retention, performance standards and guiding training and education opportunities.
    • Own IT budgeting and cost management: annual budgeting, forecasting, licence optimisation, renewals and justification of new investments.
    • Oversee IT project management across all technical domains, planning and executing upgrades, new implementations and migrations while managing scope, risk and business impact.
    • Manage IT operations and support at a high level, including access controls, business continuity readiness, backup and data management, and security awareness.
    • Manage vendors and stakeholders, negotiate and enforce SLAs, and maintain productive relationships.
    • Lead the transition from on‑premises legacy systems to modern cloud‑based solutions and adopt relevant technology trends that add business value.
 
Minimum requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in IT Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems or similar.
    • 10+ years’ experience in IT, including at least 5 years in an IT management role.
    • Proven experience in multiple areas: project management; data management and security; network management and security; infrastructure management; and vendor management.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead IT teams, conduct performance evaluations and mentor staff.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
    • Additional professional IT and/or management certifications are highly advantageous (e.g. ITIL, COBIT, CISA/CISM, PMP/PRINCE2, Microsoft 365/Azure).
