IT Technician (Infrastructure)

Job Purpose
The IT Technician (Infrastructure) is responsible for expert technical support and oversight of infrastructure systems, ensuring stability, security, and performance. This role focuses on resolving complex challenges, maintaining infrastructure environments, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Operations: Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage, networking, and virtualization environments.
- Escalation Support: Act as an escalation resource for complex issues to ensure timely resolution.
- Systems & Network Management: Monitor on-premises and cloud systems to ensure uptime and performance in line with SLAs.
- Business Continuity: Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure infrastructure aligns with security standards, monitor for vulnerabilities, and implement patches.
- Capacity Planning: Perform planning activities and provide recommendations to support business growth.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of configurations, processes, and changes.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal teams to understand requirements and provide technical input for solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, AWS, or Azure.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in IT infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of servers, networking, virtualization, cloud solutions, and storage systems.
- Understanding of IT security standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
- Advanced problem-solving, strong communication, and the ability to work independently or within a team.
- Methodically breaks down complex incidents and identifies patterns.
- Remains calm and decisive during high-stakes situations.
- Maintains a strong sense of urgency when monitoring threats and system performance.
- Keeps up with evolving technologies, attack techniques, and security tools.
