HVAC Senior Technician – Durban
Our client in Pinetown, Durban is seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Technician to join their Service Department
The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and ventilation systems across multiple sites.
This role requires strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Preventative Maintenance & Repairs
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on HVAC, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment.
Conduct fault finding, repairs, and full system overhauls to ensure continuous operability.
Resolve service and maintenance issues at various client or dealer locations to ensure 24/7 system reliability.
Carry out new HVAC installations as directed by the Site Supervisor.
Complete site assessments and condition reports.
Ensure all work is completed within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Deliver high‑quality workmanship aligned with company standards.
2. Reporting & Administration
Accurately complete all job cards, service reports, and maintenance documentation.
Ensure paperwork is submitted timeously and correctly.
Initiate the ordering of materials through the Procurement department as required.
3. Health, Safety & Compliance
Strictly adhere to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) policies, procedures, and legislation.
Ensure full compliance with the Safety Act relevant to HVAC and refrigeration work.
Maintain safe working practices at all times, including work at heights and in confined spaces.
Contribute to a zero HSE incident culture.
Ensure company safety, regulatory, and policy requirements are consistently met.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications:
– Grade 12 (Matric)
– Valid SAQCC Category A card
Experience:
– 5–8 years’ hands‑on experience in HVAC, refrigeration, and ventilation systems.
– Experience working in a commercial or industrial environment.
– Experience in the oil and gas sector will be considered an advantage.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
– Strong understanding of advanced air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating principles.
– Proven ability to perform electrical testing on single‑phase and three‑phase equipment.
– Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
– High attention to detail and ability to follow technical instructions.
Physically fit and able to:
– Work at heights exceeding 2 metres
– Operate in confined spaces
Additional Requirements:
– Valid driver’s licence (mandatory)
– Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and standby when required.

Salary: R20,000 – R25,000 CTC per month dependant on expereince & qualifications
