Desktop Publishing Operator (DTP Operator)

A company based in Durban North is looking for a detail-oriented DTP Operator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, formatting, and finalising artwork and print-ready files, ensuring all designs meet brand, client, and production specifications. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical design ability, excellent attention to detail, and experience working in a fast-paced print or production environment.

 

Prepare and format artwork for print and production according to client and internal specifications

Set up and amend layouts, packaging, labels, brochures, catalogues, signage, and other marketing/print materials

Ensure all files are print-ready with correct dimensions, bleed, resolution, and colour settings

Edit and update existing artwork accurately and efficiently

Liaise with designers, clients, and production teams to ensure artwork requirements are met

Check all artwork for quality, consistency, spelling, alignment, and technical accuracy before final output

Manage multiple jobs simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a high-volume environment

Maintain organised digital files and version control of artwork

 

Proven experience as a DTP Operator / DTP Artist / Artworker

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop

Strong understanding of print production processes, pre-press, colour profiles, and file setup

Excellent attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure

Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and clients

Ability to take instruction, problem-solve, and manage deadlines effectively

 

Experience in a printing, signage, packaging, labelling, or manufacturing environment

 

Salary up to R18 000
