Role Summary:
 
The Deputy Nursing Manager will be responsible for the clinical nursing management of the ICU’s. This includes the co ordination of all functions and activities related to the
 
provision, promotion and assurance of clinical patient care via the leadership of a multidisciplinary team in consultation with all relevant stakeholders.
 
 Key Work Output and Accountabilities:
 
  • Ensuring the quality nursing care activities are carried out to comply with S.A.N.C regulations , relevant legislations as well as the Hospitals Values.
 
  • Maintaining all SHEQ and Quality processes related to the environment
 
  • Liaising with Doctors utilizing the unit to promote good working relationships
 
  • Managing nursing staff labour hours to ensure adequate and cost effective staffing, maintenance of satisfactory working relationships, performance management
 
  • Maintaining and ensuring adherence to infection control practices
 
  • Maintaining appropriate participative management structures to achieve all agreed upon performance targets
 
Facilitation of the development of realistic annual budget which may include revenue personnel supplies and capital equipment
  • A relevant nursing qualification ( B Cur Degree/ or relevant management qualification)
 
  • ICU Diploma is essential
 
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
 
  • Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations
 
  • 3 – 5 Year experience as DNM
 
  • Sound financial knowledge and the ability to interpret financial data
 
  • An intermediate level of Computer proficiency
 
  • Advanced Computer Literacy
