Role overview
- This is an early-career role for someone with an agriculture diploma who wants to grow fast. You will support the Farm Manager across all farm functions and must be capable of running the operation during short Farm Manager absences (up to 7 days).
- A key focus is administration and testing:
- Accurate recordkeeping (picking, packing, sales, stock, sprays, irrigation, labour)
- Daily invoice creation (Excel template)
- Daily testing (drain/runoff EC, leaf/petiole tests, soil probe readings) and using results to recommend irrigation/fertigation adjustments (changes approved by Farm Manager)
Required qualifications (non-negotiable)
- Diploma or higher in Agriculture
- Pest and disease scouting and spray execution: yes
- Excel: basic (templates, accurate data capture; simple formulas a plus)
- Driver’s licence
- English (fluent) and basic isiZulu
- Comfortable working outdoors and in greenhouse environments
- Willingness to learn fast and follow systems consistently
Preferred (nice-to-have)
- Exposure to tomato production (open-field or protected)
- Any irrigation/fertigation exposure (even basic)
- Experience with stock control, invoicing, or farm admin systems
Employment type:
- Permanent (includes 3-month probation).
- Strong graduates may be considered on an internship-to-permanent pathway.
- Hours: 07:30 – 16:30 (seasonal peak periods may require flexibility)
