This position looks after procurement nationally, branches and manufacturing. The role also requires co-ordination and administration of import shipments.
The goal is to develop good business relationships with suppliers and ensure the best price, quality and service is being achieved.
 
 
Key responsibilities
    • Building relationships with local suppliers nationally
    • Negotiate pricing for all raw materials, packaging and finished goods
    • Negotiating prices and contracts for consumable and services
    • Assist in sourcing new suppliers for packaging, raw materials, finished goods
    • Tracking and reporting on supplier performance relative to pricing increases, service levels and quality
    • Negotiate shipping rates locally to compare with International suppliers shipper rates
    • Co-ordinating of import shipments with Operations Manager / Warehouse manager
    • Calculation of Costings for Imported stock
    • Reconciliation of International creditors accounts
    • Cost Saving Initiatives
 
Key communication and relationships
    • Managing relationships and escalations with suppliers
    • Daily communication with manufacturing buyer, and planner and Manager
    • Reporting to the Operations Manager
    • Liaison with staff and other points of escalation within the business including Directors
 
 Local Procurement
    • Effectively negotiate with all local suppliers nationally on price, service levels and quality
    • Monitor and report on changes in price and its effect on the business, along with suggested proposed solutions
    • Procurement supply risk analysis and determining mitigating action with suppliers
    • Sourcing of alternate suppliers of existing packing / raws, as well as new suppliers for new products
    • Sourcing and negotiating sub-contract manufacture of products
    • Negotiate shipping freight rates, clearing rates and landside charges with local clearing and forwarding agents
 
Shipping Administration
    • Monitor all Import Shipments with international suppliers to ensure no delays in production, or shipping
    • Monitor and report updated arrival dates
    • Update order details on ERP system (Omni)
    • Co-ordinate delivery of import containers and LCL’s with warehouse manager and transporters
 
Skills, qualifications and experience needed
    • Proven working experience in Procurement
    • Proven working experience in Shipping / Logistics
    • Excellent Negotiation and People Skills
    • Demonstrable ability to work independently and handle projects
    • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organisational skills
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Contract setting experience with suppliers / service providers (incl rebate negotiations)
    • Sourcing of raw materials / packaging / spares / machinery / consumable etc
    • Cost Saving initiatives
    • Best practice policies implementation
    • Manufacturing environment / chemical experience added bon
