Our client is a leading engineering firm specializing in innovative and sustainable building services solutions. Their team of experts is dedicated to delivering high-quality designs and services across various sectors including commercial, residential, and industrial projects. They are currently seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Wet & Fire Design Engineer to join their dynamic team.
Duties & Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Wet & Fire Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing wet and fire protection systems for a range of building projects. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and architects to ensure that all designs meet the required standards and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed designs for wet and fire protection systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, and fire pumps.
- Prepare calculations, technical reports, and design drawings.
- Ensure designs comply with local building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction phases.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineers to integrate wet and fire protection systems into overall project designs.
- Participate in project meetings and present design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng/Pr Tech/Pr Techni) license is an advantage – not mandatory
- +2 years wet services, or fire, however they are looking for someone with 5+ years fire experience but will consider both junior and senior.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools.
- Strong knowledge of local building codes SANS 10400, ASIB, 10287, 10139 standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Location: Durban / Johannesburg
Salary: Open to negotiation – company does have a profit sharing scheme.
